Victoria Mejicano, was born in the Dominican Republic in 1991. Her interest in theater began in the streets of Santo Domingo at the age of ten, and continued with the intentions of educating the people in the marginalized communities where her life began. Victoria has performed in three different countries (Venezuela, Canada and the Dominican Republic) in more than 7 plays. She has also facilitated workshops for youth and children in seven different cities in the Dominican Republic and Canada. With almost 2 year in Canada, Victoria has joined the Aluna Theatre project “Young Panamerican Vo(i)ces”, UforChange “Spiritus” project, and was a theater instructor with Luna Art Club. Victoria’s dream is to provide free workshops for youth and children in marginalized communities as a way to promote discussion and collaboration within them, as well as to empower residents with the confidence to create positive change, through access to theater.
Victoria Will be ours Project Coordinator and Workshop Facilitator.
Farhiya Hirad is studying international development studies at the University of Toronto Scarborough. She has served two years as one of Lawrence Heights’ community animators. She helped outreach, coordinate and facilitate functions regarding the Lawrence Heights revitalization. Afterwards, Farhiya spent over a year kick starting a young women’s community orientated group called ‘Sunnah Sisters’. Also, she snagged an opportunity to work for the CEO of Toronto Community Housing as an intern. Her favorite phrase is by Michelangelo ‘ancora imparo’ which translates to ‘I am still learning’.
Farhiya would be our awesome “Participants and Volunteers Coordinator”
